We've remained consistent over the years in our partnerships with universities who share a similar mission, providing students real-world learning experiences, promoting design and creativity, transforming ideas, introducing innovation such as sustainable practices, and empowering using knowledge.
The project theme, Sustainability Meets Functional Minimalism, encouraged students to think creatively about integrating EGGER's sustainable wood-based materials into functional yet minimalistic solutions, emphasizing the interconnectedness of design, functionality, and planetary health. This engaging collaboration pushed the boundaries of innovation, inspiring students to develop projects that addressed modern environmental and lifestyle challenges.
As part of the experience, students also visited Douaihy Tech, our sister company, where they witnessed the intricate process of creating, cutting, and shaping wood-based products with advanced machinery. This hands-on exposure provided valuable insights, inspiring them to explore new possibilities and integrate these techniques into their projects.
The first phase of the project took place at USEK, where students presented their concepts, leading to the selection of nine finalists. These finalists, along with contributions from the Arts & Digital Media and Communication & Visual Arts schools, advanced to the final phase held in May at the Douaihy Pour Le Bois showroom. Here, their innovative ideas were showcased, with Etienne Lahoud and Gaelle El Khoury recognized for their exceptional designs.
